Atlanta company likely Donelson Home Health buyer

The likely buyer of University Medical Center's longtime home health care agency is Atlanta-based Healthfield Group Inc., sources close to the deal said.
UMC executives would not reveal who was buying Donelson Home Health last week, but did say the company had properties throughout the Southeast, specializing in home health care and had purchased agencies from UMC parent company Health Management Associates Inc. in the past.
All of those criteria match the profile of The Healthfield Group, which sources close to the UMC deal say is the intended buyer for Donelson Home Health as well as a similar facility in Tullahoma owned by HMA.
The Healthfield Group is a privately owned company specializing in home health care with facilites in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and North and South Carolina.
Healthfield Vice President of Business Development Doug Caddell stopped just short of telling The Lebanon Democrat his company was the likely buyer, saying only there was an interest on the company's part in being in the Tennessee market.
Caddell's statements sounded similar to those of UMC Chief Eexecutive Officer Mark Crawford last week, saying no deal was done but discussions were in progress.
"Do we have an interest in entering the Tennessee market, yes," Caddell said when asked of the potential Donelson Home Health purchase. "We are having discussions. There is no deal done and no definitive agreement."
Caddell said his company had recently acquired another HMA home health care property in Alabama.
Caddell described Healthfield as a "family company" that keeps the companies it buys "intact."
"We are a Southeast based company, and we operate a little differently in that we are a comprehensive provider of home health care," Caddell said.
Sources close to the deal say a target date to finalize the sale is the end of the month.
UMC officials said they had no further comment on the Donelson Home Health sale Monday.
