Bears overpower BGA

Mt. Juliet continued to show its offensive strength Friday by skating past Battle Ground Academy 7-4 as the Golden Bears advanced to 12-1-1 for the season.
Justin Bracey put the Bears on the board first, set up by Brian Lawson and Drew Bracey, just three minutes into the game.
BGA evened the score 15 seconds later.
Lawson then took a shot that hit a BGA defenseman in the facemask and Justin Bracey was able to punch in the loose puck for a 2-1 Mt. Juliet lead.
Freshman forward Evan Reams tallied a goal on assists from linemates Alex Rich and Dillon Burke to put Mt. Juliet up by two midway through the first period.
But BGA punched in two goals in two minutes to tie the game 3-3.
Lawson and Justin Bracey passed to Jeong Choe to put Mt. Juliet back in front early in the second period.
BGA again tied the score 4-4 with 6:11 left in the second.
But Mt. Juliet took over down the stretch. Lawson passed to Drew Bracey, who powered his way through the BGA defense to score a short-handed goal for a 5-4 Bear lead with just over two minutes left in the period.
Mt. Juliet's Rich added a goal with 9:18 to play off a Choe assist. Lynch assisted Choe for an empty-netter to close the scoring.
The Bears will face Independence at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday at Southern Ice in Franklin and Station Camp at 7 p.m. Friday at Nashville's Centennial Sportsplex.
