Blue Devils race past Warren Co.

The Blue Devils of Lebanon emptied the bench Friday as they handed Warren County a 59-24 District 7-AAA loss at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium/Hester Gibbs Court.
The Pioneers scored two early baskets to take a 4-0 lead before Lebanon stormed back and went on an 11-0 run to close the first quarter ahead by seven.
The defense kept up the intensity and Warren County was held scoreless until Chris Weitzel was sent to the free-throw line at 4:07 of the second quarter.
"Our guys got after it on the defensive end," Lebanon coach Doug Keil said after his Blue Devils improved to 10-9 overall and 2-4 in the district. "I'm proud of the effort they gave out there."
The stingy defense allowed only five points in the second and the Blue Devils took a commanding 27-9 lead to the locker room at halftime.
The third quarter ended with Lebanon on top 48-16.
"In that kind of game everyone gets to play," Keil said.
The coach emptied the bench in the second half to allow his younger players to get some playing time.
"It's good for those kids to get some minutes in," he added.
O'Keefe McCarver had 11 points to lead the Blue Devils. Terrence Logue added seven, Alex Johnson and Connor Burger six each, Josh Hubbard put in five; Robert Crudup, Brian Reeder, Lee Olden, Michael Edwards and Hershal McCathern all knocked in four, Xavier Smith three and Luke Sampson a free throw.
Weitzel had 10 points to lead Warren County.
Lebanon will stay at home to host district rival Siegel on Tuesday.
