Job Description for After School Site Coordinator Position Title: Watertown Middle School 21st Century After-School Program Site Coordinator Reports To: UT Extension Grant project director, UT Extension county family and consumer sciences Extension agent and Watertown Middle School site principal Effective date: Approximately October 15, 2014 Agency Summary: The 21st Century After-School Program is a youth program committed to providing academic and enrichment activities to youth. Special Note: This is a grant funded and contracted position renewed on an annual basis. After-School Program Site Director Job Description: Develop or identify and facilitate enrichment activities for youth. Monitor student progress and needs as appropriate. Provide data associated with grant??s required evaluation components. Communicate to grant Project Director on monthly basis about program progress through email, phone calls or required reporting. Receive appropriate training as required by the State. Organize and facilitate parent involvement activities. Participate in site-visits by the Tennessee Department of Education and follows State licensure guidelines (if necessary). Provide education in the areas of Reading, Math, Science, Nutrition, Technology and Homework Assistance. Responsible to insure the safety and security of students, staff, and school property during the after school program. Responsible for dealing with discipline issues when the principal is no longer at the school and following up with the principal. Assists in the establishment of a working advisory board for the school site with the site principal and grant coordinators. Establishes and maintains communication with regular day and after school staff, principal, community agencies/partners and families regarding all aspects of student involvement in the program. Performs other duties as assigned by the grant project director, county family and consumer sciences Extension agent and site principal. Qualifications Education (one of two qualifications below needs to apply): 1.BA or BS degree in Education, Social Work, Recreation Administration, Human Development or related field preferred. 2.Associates degree, or 48 college credits in youth, child or family studies related field. Experience: Experience to include duties such as: managing staff; working with children and families; working with diverse populations; working with community agencies and businesses; and/or providing and organizing academic enrichment activities for school age children. Skills: Skilled in coordinating programs and must demonstrate skills related to detail and organization. Strong skills in record keeping and all forms of communication. Must be able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments. Abilities: Must have capacity to work independently with limited supervision while implementing all program components. While independent decision making is expected, supervisors must be informed of actions taken. Must be able to work as part of a team and collaborate with community partners. Must be able to work with a diverse population and effectively present information about the program to varied audiences. Salary & Benefits: $25 per hour Benefits are not included. Hours: 25hours/week majority of those hours are spent conducting the afterschool program between the hours of 3-6pm. Hours outside of 3-6pm can be flexible.
