Cravens, FCS run-rule WHS
WATERTOWN — Friendship Christian's Brian Cravens hit two home runs – one more than the number of hits he allowed Watertown – Thursday as he led the Commanders to an 11-0 six-inning win at Three Forks Park.
Cravens drove in three runs on the two long balls. G.L. Waynick and Brent Boyd each knocked in a pair of runs on a hit as the Commanders climbed to 7-7 for the season and 4-0 in District 8-A.
Cravens allowed only a second-inning single to Justin Breece and four walks while striking out six.
Ryan Rich fell behind 5-0 in the first inning before Watertown coach Jeff Luttrell waved in Breece to fire the final four frames as the Purple Tigers fell to 2-7, 0-5.
Friendship scored at least two runs in each of the five innings except for a scoreless fourth, finishing with nine hits. Jessie Coe and Wade Mitchell doubled.
Both teams return to matinee action today. Watertown will travel to Murfreesboro for a noon game at Middle Tennessee Christian. Friendship will go to Fayetteville for the Rebel Classic with games set for 11 a.m. against host Lincoln County and 1:30 p.m. against Dickson County. The Commanders will go to Manchester on Saturday to take on host Coffee County at 11 a.m. and Lebanon at 1:30 p.m.
