CU women blow out Wilberforce

Cumberland's Lady Bulldogs defeated Wilberforce University 84-45 in the Nationwide Classic at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs built a commanding lead by the end of the half with the score 37-22 despite shooting just 29-percent from the floor. First half free throws helped increase the margin as Cumberland went 6 of 9 fronm the line.
Accuracy picked up in the second half and the Lady Bulldogs ran away outscoring Wilberforce 47-23.
Renae Williams led all scorers with 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Ewa Bukowska tossed in 10 points for Cumberland, C'Kala Humes and Kiana Robinson added nine, Mariel Ruis eight, Kari Maddox, Keisha Forrest and Isabelli Cunico each put in six, Juliana Fernandes five, Tomika Hall four, Kristen Kirkland three and Hilary Bauer two.
Also in the Nationwide tournament, former Mt. Juliet High Lady Bears Christian Gibson and Paige McFarlin helped Trevecca Nazarene defeat Hannibal LaGrange 83-68. Gibson had 10 points and McFarlin added four.
