Cumberland overcame a second-half deficit Thursday to beat visiting Lyon College 69-61 at the Dallas Floyd Center.
The Bulldogs built a 28-22 halftime lead before falling behind in the second half. But their rally, built on .556 shooting after the break, moved them to 11-8 for the season and 3-5 in the TranSouth Conference pending a visit from Crichton at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Thomas Douglas came off the Bulldog bench to join starter Torrez Hampton for team-scoring honors with 13 points apiece while Brandon Oldham tossed in two three-pointers on his way to 10. Joseph Northington and Jason Langelier each added eight while Desmond Rhodes scored six, Chase Burnett five, Kevin Bufford four and Maurice Johnson two as Cumberland connected on half of its 52 shots from the floor.
Lyon also enjoyed a solid-shooting second half, hitting 10 of 20. Levi Taylor tossed in 20 points while Trey Salley scored 12 and Jonathan Donaldson 11 as the Scots slipped to 9-11, 0-8.
Cumberland controlled the boards 40-23.
