Jul 12, 2006 12:00 am
July 10, 2006 – A two-vehicle crash on Carthage Highway Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Lebanon woman and injured three others, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports.
The accident – which claimed the life of Margaret K. Douglas, 50, of 982 Trousdale Ferry Pike – occurred just after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Carthage Highway and Rome Pike.
Douglas and her husband, Kevin L. Douglas, 50, also of 982 Trousdale Ferry, were traveling eastbound on Carthage Highway on Harley Davidson motorcycle when they stopped for a car turning onto Rome Pike.
"They were struck in the rear," Trooper Mike Tysinger said. "Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected and landed in the ditch."
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, Robert W. Howard, 23, of 518 Lebanon Hwy., Carthage and his three passengers suffered non-lifethreatening injuries.
Mr. Douglas also suffered non-lifethreatening injuries and was treated and released from University Medical Center.
Tysinger noted neither speed nor alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation in still pending.
