Devilettes place second in tourney
Lebanon's Devilettes swung their way to a second place finish in the Cookeville Tournament Saturday. Megan Maynard posted three shutout victories.
Mallory Mason tossed a complete game in a 14-2 clubbing of Cumberland County High and scattered six hits. Meghan Maynard knocked a home run and added a second hit for Lebanon. Lacey Doak put in three hits and Kelsey Blackburn, Mallory Maynard and Monica Maynard all had two hits.
Maynard earned the 1-0 victory over Creekwood and fanned five batters. Doak, Megan Maynard, Mason and Lauren Carr all had hits.
Maynard was again the victor in a 7-0 shutout of Page High. She struck out four and allowed three hits. Missy Roberts reached base three times and Blackburn connected twice for the Devilettes.
The final victory came against Blackman, 9-0. Megan Maynard added her second homer of the tournament and Roberts had three hits.
The championship game ended in a 3-1 loss to Waverly. Maynard took the loss allowing seven hits and striking out three. Roberts drove in the only run on a single. Lauren Ludwickowski had two hits and Mason, Doak and Blackburn added one each.
The Devilettes are now 23-12 overall and 6-2 in District 7-AAA.
