Ex-Central standout Bailey helps Trevecca take two from CU

NASHVILLE — Trevecca scored early and often Tuesday as the Lady Trojans crushed visiting Cumberland 11-0 in the first game of a TranSouth Conference double header.
Lebanon freshman Jennifer Brewington kept Cumberland in the second game, a 2-1 Trevecca triumph.
Former Wilson Central standout Chelsea Bailey went 3-for-3, including a home run, in the leadoff spot in the first game for Trevecca. Pitcher Brittiany Johnson, who allowed two hits and struck out seven in her 20th triumph of the season, homered twice, driving in six runs.
Jamie Smith and Ashley Ferguson singled for CU's hits.
Freshman Courtney Carr of Friendship Christian allowed seven runs on seven hits in two innings before Jessica Moon was reached for four scores on five hits in the final two Trevecca trips to the plate.
In the second game, Trevecca broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth on a bunt single by Bailey Sidney Crews homered for the other run in the first as the Lady Trojans made the most of four hits to improve to 37-6 for the season and 14-3 in the TranSouth.
Stephanie Fisher improved to 14-2 for Trevecca with Johnson coming on for the save.
Smith homered for Cumberland's run in the fifth. Jackie West went 3-for-3 for the Lady Bulldogs, who had eight hits in dropping to 10-18, 8-14.
Brewington walked two and struck out one in six innings.
Cumberland will host Lambuth for a conference double header at 2 p.m. Friday.
