FCS doubles duos, MJCA's Harwell return to State

COOKEVILLE — Friendship Christian's doubles teams swept Mt. Juliet Christian in the Region 4-A-AA finals Monday while MJCA's Crystal Harwell also won the regional to return to the State Tournament.
The Commanders' Dillon Bane and Andrew Neely knocked off Mt. Juliet Christian's Josh McKenzie and Andrew Ziady 6-1, 6-2 in the finals at Tennessee Tech to earn a return trip to the BlueCross Spring Fling at Murfreesboro.
Also returning to MTSU are the Lady Commanders' Paige Watson and Christen Tressler, who ousted MJCA's Cindy Overstreet and Kate Walker 6-4, 6-2 in the girls' finals.
Harwell, who won the state doubles championship with Victoria Reed two years ago, is returning to State in singles following a 6-0, 6-3 conquest of Cannon County's Candice Couch. She ousted Cannon's Lindsay Seng 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.
Bane and Neely beat Cannon County's Michael Hollis and Joe Womack 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals while McKenzie and Ziady ousted the Lions' Andy DiMartino and Jordan Bailey 6-0, 6-1 in the semis.
Watson and Tressler defeated DeKalb County's Jessica Harney and Katie Herman 6-3, 7-6 in the semifinals. Overstreet and Walker advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Cannon County's Rachel Young and Sheree Fann.
Friendship's Jordan Huddleston lost in the boys' singles semifinals to Cannon County's Toby Roesch 7-6, 6-2.
The Commanders will travel to Chattanooga Christian later this week for the state team quarterfinals with the winner reaching the final four in Murfreesboro.
