FCS nets two wins at Greenbrier

GREENBRIER — Friendship Christian's girls edged Greenbrier 5-4 Thursday while the boys prevailed 7-2.
The Lady Commanders bounced back from losses at Nos. 1-3 singles and No. 1 doubles to improve to 9-2.
Singles winners for Friendship's girls were Katie Mitchell over Carmen Melvder 9-7, Laura Wilson over McKinzie Price 8-2 and Hannah Neal over Ashley Fuqua 8-3. Doubles winners were Mitchell and Ashley Ayub over Melvder and Taffy O'Neal 8-4 and Jenna Hazlewood and Carly Warmath over Price and Fuqua 8-1.
Greenbrier winners were Chloe Morris over Christen Tressler 6-3, 7-6; O'Neal over Amanda Ferrell 6-2, 6-0; Traci Fuqua over Ayub 9-7 and Traci Fuqua and Morris over Tressler and Ferrel 8-5.
Friendship's boys swept the doubles after going 4-2 in the singles as the Commanders climbed to 10-1 for the campaign.
Singles winners for the Commanders were Andrew Neely over Davis Fuqua 6-2, 6-2; Hunter Harwell over Chris Burns 6-2, 7-6, 6-2; Jonathan Huddleston over Michael Updike 8-1 and Trey Farmer over Kevin Allen 8-3. Doubles winners were Neely and Harwell over Updike and Brandon Langley 8-1, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Huddleston over Burns and Fuqua 8-3 and Farmer and Michael Smith over Allen and Mitchell Cothron 8-0.
Winners for the Bobcats were Langley over Jordan Huddleston 6-2, 6-2 and Cothron over Smith 8-6.
Friendship will host Station Camp at Cumberland University at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

MJ serves up 7-2 sweep of Gallatin
MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet swept Gallatin by identical 7-2 scores Thursday at Charlie Daniels Park.
Singles winners for the Lady Bears were Molly McCabe over Rachel Morrow 8-1, Jessica Porter over Darla Chaniott 8-1, Kelsey Copeland over Rafaella Roque 8-4 and Karen Kelly over Heidy LaTorre 8-0.
Doubles winners were McCabe and Rachel Calkins over Morrow and Sheffy Franklin 8-3, Porter and Copeland over Chamiott and Roque 8-2 and Brittany Scott and Lindsey Gaither over Chelsea Lauderdale and Kristen Scott 8-0.
Winners for the Lady Wave were Franklin over Calkins 8-4 at No. 1 and Kelly Kirkham over Caroline Sugg 8-5.
Singles winners for the Golden Bears were Jess Dillard over Joel Muro 8-2, Adam Williams over Nick Khoury 8-0, Matt Freda over Dujuan Manning 8-2, Andrew Manes over Brad Jones 8-3 and Evan Rogers over Joe Hiller 8-5.
Doubles winners were Dillard and Freda over Muro and Austin Porter 8-5 and Williams and Andy Mihalik over Manning and Khoury 8-3.
Winners for the Green Wave were Austin Porter over Mihalik 8-6 and Jones and Hiller over Rogers and Billy Ghumm 8-4.
Mt. Juliet, which was coming off a pair of losses to Beech on Tuesday, will go to Hendersonville on Monday for 3:30 p.m. matches at Drakes Creek Park.
