As New Year's Eve parties covered much of Wilson County Thursday night, Wilson County Sheriff's Department officers had partygoers' backs.

"It was a very successful night," commented Cpt. Gary Keith of the Wilson County Sheriff's Department. "We had only 75 calls this year for SafeRide, which seems pretty low, but partying seemed down this year."

"I'm happy. We had had a good night. There was only three reported accidents and no one was seriously hurt."

"Over the whole county," said Keith,"There was only six DUIs that I'm aware of, which is slightly up for last year's three.

"It seems people are becoming more conscience about their drinking and more aware that Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and Wilson County agencies are out looking for them."
