Christmas shipping deadlines near

Mary Hinds • Dec 15, 2015 at 11:24 AM

The pressure's on, and there's little time to waste for anyone planning to ship a gift for Christmas.

Austin Winski, co-owner of the UPS Store on Hartmann Drive in Lebanon, said as the holiday approaches, it's all hands on deck to make sure packages are properly wrapped for shipping and on their way to destinations near and far.

There are few days left to get that gift to a loved one in time for Christmas.

"It really depends on the distance," Winski said. "But for most packages, they need to sent by Dec. 18."

He said the store is hopping as everyone tries to make sure their gifts are there in plenty of time.

"We're pretty busy," he said. "We can send a package or we can package it for you."

He said the store has all the boxes, bubble wrap and shipping peanuts to make sure even the most fragile gifts get there on time and in one piece. Winski also saidt there are few things UPS can't ship.

"We ship a lot of TVs," he said. "The most unusual thing we've shipped was someone's ashes. We even shipped a lawn mower once."

So anyone who needs to surprise Uncle Joe in Des Moines with a lawn mower this Christmas, they've got you covered.

"We do it all," Winski said.

FedEx representatives were unable to be reached locally for comment Monday.
