Editor's Note: Each Friday during Black History Month in February, the Lebanon Democrat will profile a prominent African American person in Wilson County. Selecting only four people to be featured for the project was difficult, but the individuals to be profiled stand out, not just in their service to the African American community, but to our city and county as a whole. If you are a newcomer to the county, their's are names you will, should or will soon recognize.
A momma always gives you what you need. If you need a hug, she gives a hug; if you need a swift kick in the pants she will provide that as well.
Liz Reese has been the director of Brooks House since the shelter for women and children opened its doors. She is known far and wide as "Momma Liz" to the women she serves and everyone else.
