Lebanon police seek information about a reported assault in Don Fox Park.

According to police, a 17-year-old female reported two men hit her and knocked her down Wednesday at about 4:15 p.m. while she was jogging on the track.

“We’re looking for information about the crime or the persons who committed the crime,” said Chief Scott Bowen.

The victim could not provide any other description of the attackers other than they were white.

According to the victim’s statement to police, she was in the northwest side of the park when she noticed a turtle in her path. She said she stopped to pick it up and move it to the creek when the two men approached and hit her from behind, knocking her to the ground.

The victim said she then went to the Sonic on West Main Street, where she is employed, and called her mom.

Her mom called police at about 4:40 p.m.

An immediate search of the area did not turn up a witness to the attack or the suspects.

“We’re hoping that if there was somebody there who left [before officers arrived] but saw something, maybe they can provide us some information,” said Bowen. “Right now, there’s not a lot to go on.”

Police are looking for someone who may have seen anything suspicious, including any vehicles leaving the area.

The reported attack is just the second such incident at Don Fox Park in more than a decade, according to Bowen.

“For as many people as are over there, we really don’t have that much of a problem over there, especially anything serious,” said Bowen.

He said the department routinely has extra patrol officers who check the area on foot, bicycle and four-wheeler.
