Lebanon High School Band Boosters announced the candidates to be king and queen of the "Second Chance Prom" were selected.
Band parent Tracie Gatlin and prom co-coordinator Buffy Merrell said, once again, four couples will be vying for the prom king and queen titles. The winners will be determined by how much money they raise in their campaign.
"Tickets are still available, and we need to get those tickets sold," said Merrell.
Dave and Cathy Rhodes, Perry and Natalyn Slaughter, Rick and Kathy Smith and Tony and Ginny Bond are in the hunt and have donation boxes at several stragatic locations around town. Supporters can donate to the Rhodes at Crystal Coutour, the Slaughters at Dreams Boutique, the Pink Caddy Shack, the Senior Citizens Center and at Blue Moon Barbecue, the Smiths at Rose Tire and F&M Bank and the Bonds have a box at the Wilson Post.
The current royal couple, Perry and Andrea Wilke were crowned last year and will pass on their cherished titles to this year's lucky twosome.
"They are excited about passing on their crowns from last year," Merrell said.
They prom is planned for June 15 from 7-11 p.m. at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre, just off the square in Lebanon. The theme for the event is "Back to the '50s" and there will be dancing to the music of the band, Those Guys and That Girl. There will be a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres and what prom would be complete without prom pictures to remember the occasion.
"You don't have to dress like the '50s unless you want to," Merrell said, adding participants can dress however they like.
Tickets are on sale now for $40 and are available at the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce or Crystal Couture, both on the Lebanon Town Square.
The group is still recruiting sponsors to make the second chance prom a success. A $500 donation will make the donor a title sponsor and come with four tickets to the event. A title sponsor will get their business logo on top of the prom advertising poster and their name will be announced at the event. A $300 donation will make the donor an auction sponsor and comes with two tickets. These donors will have their logo on the bottom of the advertising poster and on each bid sheet at the silent auction. A $150 donation gets the donor two tickets and their name on the bottom of the poster, as well.
The goal is to supplement the band's funds to buy new instruments so the band can make a trip to Disney Land to perform.
