A Mt. Juliet man accused of 23 counts of sex crimes involving a child under 13 didn’t show up for trial Monday.
Mt. Juliet police arrested John Dale Winter, 47, of Mt. Juliet, Dec. 13 and charged him with 10 counts of rape of a child less than 13 years of age, 10 counts of especially aggravated exploitation of a minor and three counts of incest, according to sheriff’s and criminal court docket information.
Winter was due Monday at 8:30 a.m. in Wilson County Circuit Court before Judge David Durham for a jury trial, but he failed to appear.
Durham issued a warrant for Winter’s arrest, and Sheriff’s deputies quickly arrested Winter and booked him into Wilson County Jail.
At the time of Winter’s original arrest, a $250,000 bond was set. Winter was released on bond Dec. 28, according to booking information.
According to Asst. District Attorney General Tom Swink, Winter’s trial date will be rescheduled, but that date is not yet available.
Attorney Brent Horst is representing Winter.
