The National Weather service issued a tornado watch for Wilson County on Thursday night.
The watch is expected to expire Friday at 1 a.m. and covers most of Middle Tennessee. It follows a wind advisory issued Wednesday night ahead of a line of thunderstorms espected to increase in intensity Thursday evening.
Forecasters predict a strong cold front will move across Middle Tennessee on Thursday evening, bringing with it widespread activity and the possibility of severe storms. Given the highly sheared, weakly unstable environment expected ahead of the front, the primary threats are straight-line winds and isolated tornadoes, forecasters said. Rainfall, heavy at times, will also be present throughout the evening, and localized flooding is possible.
