Those in Wilson County hoping to see a white Christmas on Wednesday will have to hope for next year.

According to the National Weather Service, mostly clear skies are on tap for the holiday.

"Sorry to disappoint, but there will be no white Christmas this year," said meteorologist Jason Wright. "Highs will be in the low 40s and a low around 18."

In fact, according to weather.gov, the NWS website, the forecast calls for sunny skies all the way into Saturday. There is no precipitation of any kind in the forecast, not even rain.

The last time Wilson County had a white Christmas was 2010, with just over an inch of the fluffy powder coating the ground. Also according to forecasters, snow has fallen 24 times on Christmas in Wilson County. Ten of those had a measurable amount.

Only once has the area had consecutive years with measurable snow on Christmas day, and that was 1992 and 1993. Wilson County's coldest Christmas on record was in 1983.
