Winter weather advisory issued for Wilson County

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in Wilson County for Sunday night. 

The advisory will go into effect Sunday at 9 p.m. and remain in effect until Monday at 6 a.m. 

Forecasters said significant ice accumulations are expected over parts of Middle Tennessee late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. According to forecasters, 1 inch-2 inches of snow and sleet are forecast for northern areas late Sunday night inton Monday afternoon. 

Freezing temperatures will push across Middle Tennessee on Sunday afternoon behind a cold front that will move southeast across the area. A change from rain to freezing rain is expected to start across northwest parts of the midstate during the afternoon hours. This transition will spread southward and eastward over other parts of the midstate through Sunday night. 

Ice amounts will range from 1/10 of an inch to 1/4 of an inch.
