Lebanon City Council on Thursday will hold the first of a series of work sessions to discuss the city’s 2014-2015 budget.

The meeting, which is set for 5:30 p.m. in the town meeting hall, will focus on the public works departments, including water, sewer, gas and streets.

“I’m really excited about the budget that we’ve put out,” said Mayor Philip Craighead. “I think it will go really smoothly.”

He said the revenues generated by last year’s property tax increase will allow the city to start the process close to even.

Councilors last year approved a roughly 25-cent property tax increase to help eliminate a $2.6 million deficit.

“We’re going to accomplish a lot that we haven’t been able to do before,” said Craighead.
