New Leash on Life’s animals can sleep a little more comfortably thanks to a donation from a group of residents at Southern Manor Living Center.
On Thursday, the residents came to New Leash on Life to deliver some homemade pet beds. Each was stuffed and sewn by the residents and staff at the assisted living center earlier this week. There were also some chew toys and treats.
“We love when the community gets involved with the shelter,” said New Leash on Life Executive Director Amy Haverstick. “The animals are going to love them.”
Southern Manor staff member Ashley Williams said the residents chose to reach out to New Leash on Life as part of National Pet Day, which is Friday.
“We specially made pet cushions out of towels or pillow cases,” Williams said. “The residents enjoyed doing something for a good cause.”
The residents were rewarded with the chance to visit the cat room, as well as being introduced to some of the puppies in the care of New Leash on Life. Several of the residents said they would be willing to make more pet beds in the future.
