Brooks House, a homeless shelter for women and children in Lebanon, will expand its current facility.
Since 2007, Brooks House has provided temporary shelter to more than 380 women and children and helped transition these families into permanent housing. In order to serve more women and children in Wilson County, Brooks House is breaking ground on a new addition.
The community is invited to a groundbreaking celebration Wednesday at noon at Brooks House at 219 Virginia Ave.
This 1,500-square-foot addition will add five more bedrooms to the existing facility, a new dining and multi-purpose room, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and needed storage space. The addition will increase Brooks House’s capacity to house to between 25-30 women and children.
Donations, volunteers and other items are needed for the expansion. Visit brookshouse.org for more information or contact director Liz Reese at 615-444-8882.
