Wilson County Publix employees recently presented a corporate contribution of $59,800 to United Way of Wilson County for its current fundraising campaign.

“Because of this match leveraged by employee funds, this brings their finalized campaign just more than $140,000 for our local United Way office,” said United Way of Wilson County president John McMillin. With just more than 300 employees, the local Publix stores share a mission of setting a pace for others to follow in their giving efforts to the communities where they work and serve.

“We are thrilled that Publix employees and Publix management have this level of commitment. Their giving attitude inspires the whole community and never fails to leave us awed by their generosity. Once again, the Publix campaign is the largest in Wilson County.

“Not only do Publix employees give money, they give time, too. Many Publix employees have served on our allocations panels, on our board of directors and they are the largest single supplier of volunteers for community efforts through our United Way.”

United Way of Wilson County helps support more than 30 local programs that provide services and guidance as well as supporting initiatives in early learning.
