Pets of the Week for May 20

Staff Reports • May 20, 2014 at 7:00 PM

The name Zahra means beauty and that certainly holds true for this almost 1 1/2 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Pit Bull mix. At least that’s our guess on her breed.  She hasn’t been at New Leash on Life very long so the staff is still getting to know her. Zahra seems to do well with other dogs and tolerates cats but she doesn’t appear to be experienced around children. She weighs 39 pounds and is a beautiful blue/chocolate color.

Zahra is tentative at first with strangers but is very sweet once she gets to know you.  We do believe she is housebroken so that’s a plus. Zahra is spayed, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations. With an approved application, you can adopt Zahra for $85. Approved application and home visit required on Pit Bull breeds. All New Leash on Life dogs must be adopted to families willing to have their pets be allowed inside – especially at night.

Abner is a stunning 4 1/2 year old, 13 pound, cream and white, shorthair Tabby. He recently arrived at New Leash and is adjusting fairly well. He isn’t super thrilled with all the other cats in the open cat room – mostly he doesn’t care for the kittens as they are just too active for him. He spends his time hanging out on the top of the cabinet or in one of our cat trees.

Abner loves to get head scratches and will roll over for chin rubs and maybe even a belly rub. Come and meet this fabulous feline and make him your forever kitty. He came to New Leash on Life when his previous owners experienced some changes and could no longer provide for him. But Abner is a strong kitty that will rebound quickly in a new environment. Abner is litter box trained, neutered, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations. Come to the PetSmart in Mt. Juliet’s Providence Marketplace and adopt Abner for $75. Adoption Center Policy: All cats must be indoor only and shall not be declawed.

Our next featured pet is JoJo - a very handsome boxer/heeler mix about 1 1/2 years old. JoJo was found as a skinny stray by his foster - no collar or ID and no owner was located. He is very healthy now - current on shots, neutered and heartworm negative. JoJo has playful energy but can also calm down with good manners. He is basically a big puppy sometimes - and a big love the rest of the time. JoJo gets along with other dogs and all the people he has met. A home with a fenced yard would be a great place for JoJo to enjoy outside time. For info on JoJo, contact his foster Haley at 270-285-3903.

Kittens - Kittens! They are showing up more and more in shelters right now. We are able to help some of these kittens find homes through our caring foster homes. Here are just some of the kittens we now have available. All kittens will be started on shots, wormed, tested leukemia negative - and spay/neuter is required for adoption. We have different colors available - all are raised “hands-on” by the foster families. For info on available kittens, contact Lorna 615-946-3643.

Please visit our website www.countryk9.petfinder.com or find us on Facebook  Country K-9 Rescue Adoptable Pets  to see other available rescued pets. Our adoption fees are usually $100. for dogs and $50 for cats/kittens - all pets are fully vetted and healthy.
