Golfers unite for toy drive

Local golf enthusiasts came together to help Wilson County children have a better Christmas Friday at the annual Golf for Toys Scramble at Hunters Point Golf Course.

Lebanon Fire Department puts on the tournament each year as a fundraiser for Christmas for All and its annual toy drive.

Lebanon fire Chief Chris Dowell said this year’s event featured 14 or 15 teams in a friendly four-person scramble format.

“We had a good turnout,” said Dowell.

The proceeds from the day will go toward Lebanon Fire Department’s annual toy drive. Each year, the department shops for toys to donate to Christmas for All, which provides toys for underprivileged children who otherwise may not have a Christmas.

“It’s all about the kids,” Dowell said. “We’re not here to win.”

The department will host a second scramble in September, according to Dowell.
