A local Christian hip-hop artist has recently signed a record deal.
Jay Robinson said he moved from Florida to Lebanon when he was 10 years old and that he was been doing Christian music for almost three years.
Through his music Robinson, who goes by Jericho, said he’s gotten to travel all over the country and the world, playing in places from Canada to Alaska.
“I was traveling all over and doing free concerts and just reaching out to people,” Jericho said. “And a record label out in California got a hold of some stuff I was doing called ‘Dream.’”
The record label was Capitol Christian.
“They made me an offer and I looked over it and prayed about it and it seemed like the right thing,” Jericho said.
Jericho said he’s always loved music, however, he said he did always start out playing Christian music.
“I did secular music for a long time,” Jericho said. “Then I got saved while I was living in Nashville and I really knew I needed to change my life.”
He said he then moved into a van and lived in the Lebanon Wal-Mart parking lot for months.
“The reason I moved into the van was because I knew I had to just get away from everything,” Jericho said.
Now, he said he is the Youth Pastor at Christian Life Chapel, located at 105 Holloway Dr. in Lebanon.
Additionally, he said he has finished up his album—Road to Redemption—and has plans to go to Detroit in mid-August to put finishing touches on it before he begins touring across the country.
Jericho’s album is set to come out Nov. 11 and he said hard and electronic copies will be available throughout the world.
