Stray bullets hit Mt. Juliet homes

Staff Reports • Dec 17, 2015 at 7:02 PM

Police are trying to find the source of stray bullets that keep hitting Mt. Juliet homes.

According to Mt. Juliet police, the first bullet went through a home’s window on May 29. The homeowner found the bullet after in the livingroom couch.

Monday, bullets hit three more homes.

All four homes are in close proximity – no more than 2,500 feet apart.

Police said they believe the stray bullets are coming from recreational shooting on nearby property.

Although Mt. Juliet city code prohibits shooting within city limits, police believe the bullets are coming from properties on Beckwith Road that are not within city limits.

Witnesses told police they heard frequent gunshots between 5-8 p.m. before noticing the bullet holes.

Thursday, police warned area residents about the stray bullets and went door-to-door in the area where the shots may have come from.

Police said residents should call the department if they hear loud gunshots near their homes so police can investigate the location.

Anyone with any information regarding the stray bullet incidents are encouraged to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at 615-754-2550. Information can also be given anonymously by calling 615-754-TIPS (8477) or via the Mt. Juliet Police Department website at mjpd.org/.
