Pets of the Week for Aug. 26, 2014

Doesn’t Sweetie have a beautiful face? And she has the personality to match it, too. Sweetie is about 2 years old - a happy, well-mannered girl - she gets along fine with other dogs and all visitors. Sweetie will chase cats so a cat-free home would be best. She is healthy - spayed and current on shots. Sweetie came to us heartworm positive - she has been treated and needs a re-test in a few months - the rescue will cover all these expenses. But she can go to her new home now - come to meet Sweetie, you’ll see why she has that name.

Meet Maya, the Lifesaver. Maya is a beautiful Tortie female cat - she is friendly, calm and loving. But why is she a lifesaver? Well, after raising her own litter, when she was found abandoned with them, she then raised several more orphan kittens.  The orphans would not have survived on foster care alone - but Maya took over their nursing and nurturing - and all are doing well and getting ready for new homes. Maya is now ready for her new home also. She is healthy - tested feline leukemia negative, current on shots, and spayed for adoption. She has been in the care of a very grateful foster - who will tell you how wonderful Maya is - just call Lorna 615-946-3643 to hear all about Mama Maya.

Please visit our website countryk9.petfinder.com or find us on Facebook at Country K-9 Rescue Adoptable Pets to see other available rescued pets. Our adoption fees are usually $100 for dogs and $50 for cats/kittens - all pets are fully vetted and healthy.

Meet Indy. She came to New Leash on Life with her siblings Spunky and Sox when their “person” passed away. Indy is super friendly, loves attention and long walks on the beach. Indy is a 4-year-old, 45 pound, brown and white Hound/Retriever mix. She is very much a ‘people’ dog and gets along with other laid back dogs. The kennel staff has noticed that Miss Indy does a good job of keeping her kennel clean, so chances are she is at least crate trained, if not fully housetrained. Indy still has plenty of energy, but she’s happy to just hang out, too – so if you’re looking for a dog to hang out with you on the couch at the end of the day, she’s your gal. Indy is spayed, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations. Come and meet this fabulous girl and with an approved application, adopt Indy for $65, reduced from $85, thanks to a generous sponsor. Come meet Indy at our adoption center today. All New Leash on life dogs must be adopted to families willing to have their pets be allowed inside – especially at night.

Brown stripes, beautiful golden eyes and a little on the shy side – that’s our Dazzle.  She is a 4-month-old brown Tabby mix. She loves spending time with her litter mates – Oscar, Razzle and Ramona. They came to New Leash on Life to find their forever homes. Dazzle is the quiet one of the litter, she enjoys being held and will purr when you scratch her head and chin. She does enjoy playing with the other kittens but also enjoys her quiet time, napping in one of the soft beds in our open cat room. Dazzle is litter box trained, spayed, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations. Come and meet this beautiful girl and adopt her for $100 or consider adopting her with a litter mate for $150. Adoption Center Policy:  All cats must be indoor only and shall not be declawed.

Not sure if you’re ready to commit to adoption? Ask about our 7-day Sleepover Program for dogs and cats. If you already have your limit of four-legged family members, please consider becoming a ‘Guardian’ to help homeless pets each month. Just visit newleashonline.org and click on Programs, then Guardian Guild for more information.
