Cumberland women’s basketball coach Jeremy Lewis announced the club’s 2014-15 schedule this week, which includes 14 home games and contests against six teams that reached last year’s NAIA National Tournament.
The Bulldogs will open the season at home Nov. 1 against Bryan before three straight road games the following week at Middle Georgia State College (Nov. 4), Fisk (Nov. 6) and Oakwood (Nov. 8). CU will return home Nov. 11 to face Oakwood and will take on long-time rival and perennial power Freed-Hardeman on Nov. 17.
Cumberland will begin Mid-South Conference play that same week with road tilts at Georgetown College (Nov. 20) and Shawnee State (Nov. 22). A home contest against Middle Georgia on Dec. 1 is sandwiched around two more conference outings, at home against St. Catharine (Dec. 4) and Campbellsville (Dec. 6).
The Bulldogs will also play host to Division II Lewis University on Dec. 14 and travel to Reinhardt (Dec. 16) before breaking for Christmas.
The squad will return after the break to play host to Tennessee Wesleyan on Jan. 10 before getting into the meat of the league schedule.
CU will head to the University of the Cumberlands (Jan. 15) and Pikeville (Jan. 17) as well as Lindsey Wilson (Jan. 22) before playing host to three straight contests, taking on Fisk (Jan. 24), Pikeville (Jan. 29) and the Cumberlands (Jan. 31).
Cumberland will travel to St. Catharine (Feb. 5) and Campbellsville (Feb. 7) to begin the month of February but will play three of its final four regular season outings at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center, taking on Shawnee State (Feb. 12), Georgetown (Feb. 14) and Lindsey Wilson (Feb. 26) with only a trip to Tennessee Wesleyan (Feb. 18) mixed in.
The 2014 Mid-South Conference Championships will take place March 5, 7-8 at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky., and the 35th Annual NAIA Championships will be held March 18-24 in Independence, Mo.
