Gammon leads Saints to dist. win

MT. JULIET — With a freshman leading the way, Mt. Juliet Christian doubled up Macon County 4-2 Thursday in the Saints' District 8-A-AA opener.
Ninth-grader Dylan Gammon scored twice and had an assist, just missing a hat trick on a save by Macon's goalie.
The Saints jumped to a 2-0 lead six minutes in and held to a 2-1 halftime edge as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 2-2 for the season.
"It was our best effort so far as far as putting together a total game," first-year Mt. Juliet Christian coach Lloyd Sharpe said.
Corey Wills scored Mt. Juliet Christian's first goal and added an assist while Deano Richards also connected for a goal.
Mt. Juliet Christian had 16 shots to Macon County's five as Justin Branim only had to make three saves for the Saints.
MJCA will host district-rival Greenbrier at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
