Georgetown deals Lady Dawgs first loss

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — No. 18 Georgetown jumped to a first-half lead and used sizzling shooting to deal cold Cumberland a 66-59 loss Tuesday night.
The Lady Tigers led 37-26 at halftime as the No. 13 Lady Bulldogs dropped their first decision of the season following five wins.
Georgetown hit half of its 48 shots from the floor while Cumberland connected on just 25 of 71. The Lady Tigers were 14-of-22 from the free-throw line while the Lady Bulldogs were 5-of-9.
Megan Gray threw in three 3-pointers on her way to 26 points for Georgetown while Kim Ingle fired in 15 and Jayme Gilbert 14.
C'Kala Humes totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds as Cumberland controlled the glass 45-28 to stay in the contest. Renae Williams scored 17 while Isabelli Cunico and Kari Maddox each finished with five, Mariel Ruis three and Tomika Hall, Kiana Robinson, Ashley Cross and Julianna Fernandes two apiece.
Cumberland will return home to host the CU Classic at the Dallas Floyd Center this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs will face Mobile at 6 p.m. Friday and College of the Ozarks at 4 p.m. Saturday. The men will take on Ohio State-Mansfield at 8 p.m. Friday and Auburn-Montgomery at 6 p.m. Saturday.
