Gordonsville routs MJCA
MT. JULIET — Gordonsville's boys broke open a close game in the second half Monday and pulled away to a 65-36 thumping of Mt. Juliet Christian.
The teams were tied 12-12 following the first quarter before Gordonsville slipped in front 22-19 by halftime. The Tigers widened the difference to 41-28 through three periods as they improved to 7-1 in District 8-A.
"We just got out of our game plan the second half," Mt. Juliet Christian David Kitchen said after his Saints slipped to 10-12, 2-8. "They just shot the blal well, sort of like they did against Friendship [in a 65-61 win last Friday]."
Guard Bryce Randolph threw in 13 points for Gordonsville while center Jake Dillard tossed in 12.
Center Victor Underwood fired in a game-high 15 for Mt. Juliet Christian while Bryce Middleton added eight, Chris Frazier two three-pointers for six, Devon Bradshaw four and Jonathan Roberts a three.
Mt. Juliet Christian will return to the district road tonight when the Saints bus to Hartsville to take on Trousdale County.
