Guzman ranked in preseason poll

Cumberland senior Paula Guzman has been nationally ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the second straight year, coming in at No. 42.
"I am not surprised and proud to once again see her listed among the nation's best," Cumberland coach Bill Riddle said of Guzman, a business management major from Bogota, Columbia, who will be a co-captain of the Lady Bulldogs this season. "Paula is one of the hardest working tennis players I have seen in a long time and her wins and rankings are a result of pure effort and perseverence."
Guzman was ranked 33rd in singles last spring.
Joining Guzman on the Cumberland roster in the spring will be Lebanon freshman Emily Jacobs and international newcomers Beatriz Mompo of Spain and Niahm Cleary of Ireland. Former player Will Edmonds will assist Riddle this season.
The Lady Bulldogs will enter the 2007 season ranked 28th. They will open the season Jan. 27 at Nashville Village Athletic Club against Milligan.
