Illobre breaks par as Baird wins first match
With Thomas Illobre breaking par, Walter J. Baird was a winner in its first-ever golf match Monday.
Playing at Cedar Crest, the Blue Devils shot a 193 to Southside's 199. Host Smyrna carded a 213.
Baird wasn't as successful in its second match Tuesday, falling to Mt. Juliet 160-201 at Windtree.
Illobre shot a 1-under 35 over nine holes at Cedar Crest. Hunter Christian fired a 43, Jonathan Trice 55 and Ryan Botts 60. Cameron High's 68 didn't make the top four to count against the team score.
Christian fired a 40 at Windtree while Illobre dropped in a 43, Botts 57 and Trice 61. Finishing out of the money were High with a 67, Logan Hostettler's 70 and Jake Loucks' 72.
Baird, under Coach Mike Dover, will host Macon County at 3:30 p.m. April 5 at Cedar Crest.
