Inaugural MJ Middle team goes undefeated

Mt. Juliet Middle School's first-ever golf team went 10-0 in the regular season and won the regional tournament Tuesday at Henry Horton State Park.
The Golden Bears won the regional with 341 to Siegel's 345 and Blackman's 376 out of a 10-team field and 50 players.
Five Bears finished in the top 11, led by eighth-grader Dylan Hopper who won the event with a 74. Sixth-grader Stoney Crouch was seventh with an 86, sixth-grader Jackson McFarlin shot an 88 to finish eighth, eighth-grader Ryan Pirtle carded a 93 to place 10th and eighth-grader Taylor Neiswander 94 to finish 11th.
Mt. Juliet will be in action in the TMSAA State Tournament at Champions Run in Eagleville on May 15. Between 15-20 teams from across the state will participate.
"I would again like to thank Windtree Golf Course in Mt. Juliet and its staff for allowing the team to hold its matches and practices at their facility," Coach Gary McFarlin said. "I believe this group of young men will do great at the state level as long as they stay focused and play their game."
Also on the team are eighth-grader Scott Primm, seventh-grader Brett Dillard and sixth-grader Austin Winfree.
