After spending a grand total of 1,807 miles in a car with my lovely wife and wonderful three children last week while on vacation in Texas, it was refreshing to return to work and one of my most favorite times of the year, Sunshine Week.

The staff at the new Tennessee College of Applied Technology was visibly excited to welcome members of Wilson County’s legislative delegation, state Board of Regents members and city and county leaders Friday for breakfast at the new Lebanon campus.
With temperatures expected to dip into the single digits Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, both Wilson County and Lebanon students didn’t have to brave the cold, while power companies across the state readied for the frigid conditions.
Tennessee Department of Health surveillance noted a steady increase in influenza activity in Tennessee and warned the current flu season could get even more severe, while the Centers for Disease Control said the flu has reached epidemic status.
