Lady Bears fall short to Lexington Catholic

MARSHALL COUNTY- The Lady Bears of Mt. Juliet suffered their first loss of the season to Lexington Catholic 79-71 Saturday in the Marshall County Hoopfest.
"They've got a real strong program," Mt. Juliet coabch Chris Fryer said.
The first quarter ended in a dead heat at 19-19 before Lexington gained momentum. Lexington opened up a 38-29 lead heading into the locker room.
"They played better defensively," Fryer added.
The Lady Bears battled to within a point with under a minute to play before foul trouble caught up with the squad and Lexington extended the lead to seal the victory.
Taylor Hall led the Lady Bears with 26 points, including five 3-pointers. Rebecca Sharpe and K.C. Vanatta both fired in 15 points, Jordan Nixon put in six, Heather Miller four, Miaca Bowman three and Macey Gleaves two.
For Lexington Catholic, Natalie Novasol knocked in 26 points, Keyla Snowden put in 20 and Brianna Green had 15.
The Lady Bears host Smyrna Tuesday at 6:30.
