Dec 18, 2006 12:00 am
The Lady Bears of Mt. Juliet defeated Blue Devil Classic-host Lebanon 79-34 in dominating fashion Friday night at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court as they moved to 9-1 for the season.
Mt. Juliet began the contest with a 13-0 run to take control of the tempo. By the end of the first quarter Mt. Juliet held a commanding 26-4 advantage. The struggle for Lebanon continued in the second period and the Devilettes managed just 12 points through the first half.
"We had a big night rebounding," Lady Bear coach Chris Fryer said. "Heather Miller and K.C. VanAtta had good games on the boards."
Miller finished with 11 boards and Vanatta hauled in nine.
The third quarter ended with the margin standing 65-24 in favor of the Lady Bears.
"Mt. Juliet plays really well," Devilette coach Darian Brown said after his team fell to 5-5. "We are having a hard time executing game plans and that's frustrating."
VanAtta led the way for Mt. Juliet with 21 points. Taylor Hall tossed in 15 points for the Lady Bears, Jordan Nixon added 12, Miller put in eight; Miaca Bowman, Macie Gleaves and Rebecca Sharpe had six apiece and Katie Bryan three.
