Lady Bulldogs take a bite out of Martin Methodist

The No. 13 Lady Bulldogs of Cumberland improved to 21-6 overall with a 84-71 victory over Martin Methodist Saturday at the Dallas Floyd Center.
The teams were gridlocked at 35 when the buzzer sounded to end the first half of play. Martin Methodist gave Cumberland the opportunity to pull away in the second half by commiting numerous fouls. The Lady Bulldogs made 30 trips to the free throw line in the second, converting 21 times.
Tomika Hall led all scorers with 25 points for the Lady Bulldogs. C'Kala Humes tossed in 20 points, Ashley Cross knocked in 10, Renae Williams eight, Kiana Robinson seven, Keisha Forrest five, Isabelli Cunico four, Kari Maddox and Juliana Fernandes two apiece and Ewa Bukowska a free throw.
For Martin Methodist, Diane Frost put in 21 points, Whitney Robison added 13 and Nina Robinson 10.

Cumberland's Bulldogs dropped an 83-74 loss to Martin Methodist Saturday at the Dallas Floyd Center. The defeat gives the Bulldogs a 15-12 overall record.
Although Cumberland outscored Martin in the second half, they couldn't overcome a 12-point halftime deficit.
Martin Methodist led 41-29 going into the locker room.
Jacob McKissack fired in 25 points for Martin Methodist to lead the scoring. Temmate Chauncy Shelton added 23.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Thomas Douglas with 22 points. Chase Burnett tossed in 18, Brandon Oldham added 13, Desmond Rhodes eight, Kevin Bufford six, Torrez Hampton three and Channing Tucker and Aurimas Silys two each.
