Lady Commanders wrap up S.C. trip with 26-1 crushing of Cross
CROSS, S.C. — Friendship Christian wrapped up its spring-break trip Wednesday with a 26-1 crushing of Cross.
The Lady Commanders scored 14 runs in the first inning before Coach Erica Powell pulled her starters.
Hailey Rutledge, Carrie Fry and Kenzie Dye each pitched an inning in the three-inning game. Cross got its only hit and run, which was unearned, in the third.
Camille Cross went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs for Friendship. Kelsey Lee drove in three runs, Lindsey Farmer two and Fry one as they, Dye, Rutledge and Jessi Couch each collected a pair of hits.
The Lady Commanders were to return home in the wee hours this morning. After taking today off, they will join Lebanon, Watertown and Mt. Juliet Christian in the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association Tournament at Cane Ridge Park in Antioch on Friday. They will face East Robertson at 3 p.m. and Columbia Academy at 6 in a matchup of last year's Class A second- and third-place teams.
