Lady Dawgs twice crush Crichton
Everything came together for Cumberland on Tuesday as the Lady Bulldogs swept visiting Crichton 8-1 and 8-0.
Jessica Moon allowed six hits and no walks in the opener while striking out five as she improved to 2-4.
She was backed by a nine-hit attack led by Amy Eden's fourth home run of the season. The sophomore from Mt. Juliet drove in two runs on two hits. Alli Donnelly drilled her first homer of the season. Leadoff batter Jamie Smith doubled twice and scored two runs.
In the nightcap, the Lady Bulldogs scored all their runs in the third inning to back Donnelly to her second win in three decisions. She allowed just one hit before Micki Geyman worked a perfect fifth and final frame as Cumberland climbed to 6-10 for the season and 4-6 in the TranSouth Conference.
Smith tripled and drove in three runs while Eden and Ashley Ferguson doubled. Freshman Jennifer Brewington of Lebanon went 2-for-2.
The Lady Bulldogs will hit the TSC road Friday when they bus to Jackson for a 1 p.m. double header at Lambuth.
