(Kimberly Jordan • Lebanon Democrat) The Eastern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors hosted its first ice cream social Thursday. Candidates for a number of offices in the August election gathered at Charlie Daniels Park in Mt. Juliet. EMTAR’s Kathy O’Brien Streets said the social included a “best ice cream” contest and there were 52 entries among the 20-plus candidates.
It was an old-time “ice cream social,” where local politicians stumped for their offices and constituents had the chance to talk personally with potential and hopeful representatives.

(Laurie Everett • Mt. Juliet News) Mt. Juliet’s Keller Williams Reality’s RED DAy team works on Juanita Johnson’s home in Mt. Juliet. They spruced it up on the annual “give back day.” It was the 20th anniversary of Johnson’s home built by Wilson County Habitat for Humanity. Hers was the first built in the local Habitat program.
Juanita Johnson’s cottage in Lebanon got a spring makeover Thursday. Her abode was built 20 years ago and was the very first Habitat for Humanity house built in Wilson County. Hundreds have been built since by the non-profit that builds homes for those who need a hand-up.

A high-speed police chase ended peacefully when Mt. Juliet police used a spike strip system to disable the fleeing vehicle on Interstate 40 early Thursday morning.
