Immanuel Baptist Church seeks to take control of a portion of Wildwood Avenue from Castle Heights Avenue to Crest Drive, which runs through the church campus. Immanuel senior pastor John Hunn said the church sought other options to deal with growth, but were unsuccessful.
The Lebanon Planning Commission approved an abandonment of Wildwood Avenue between Castle Heights Avenue and Crest Drive to Immanuel Baptist Church on Tuesday during its meeting.

(Jared Felkins • Lebanon Democrat) Former Wilson Central High School JROTC instructor Jack Dempsey is filled with emotions when he comes to Chief Petty Officer Michael L. Stansberry Jr.’s name as he joined six others in reading a list of the fallen soldiers from Wilson County. Stansberry, who was killed in Afghanistan, was one of Dempsey’s students in high school.

Russell Ewings Jr., of Lebanon, earned the Most Creative Award during the 2015 Spring Semester Award Show at Nossi College of Art. He was one of only 14 students to earn an award and was included in over 100 total nominations. Ewings will graduate on June 7 with a Bachelor of Illustration degree.

Cumberland University students and faculty shared stories and lessons learned from the group’s recent trip to Haiti with the Lebanon Kiwanis Club last Monday.
