Lebanon's Elie finishes 9th in state pentathlon
MURFREESBORO — Lebanon sophomore Icelyn Elie finished ninth in the girls' state pentathlon Monday at Middle Tennessee State University.
Elie finished with 2,701 points in the five-event competition.
She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 16.84 seconds [615 points], covered 4-11 3/4 in the high jump [644], threw the shot put 27-10 1-4 [431], covered 16-8 in the long jump [581] and ran the 800 meters in 2:53.32 [430].
William Blount's Danielle Sampley won the pentathlon.
Girls' competition will resume at 5 p.m. Wednesday at MTSU. Lebanon's Emile Dewaal will make her second appearance in the state pole vault finals. Elie and Jenna Forrest will run in the 100-meter high hurdle preliminaries with the finals set for 6 p.m. Thursday.
Also on Thursday, Elie will compete in the high jump at 10:15 a.m. and the triple jump at 11:30.
Boys' action will begin Thursday with running preliminaries, followed by the finals and field events Friday. Matt Maynard will run the 110 high hurdle prelims at 3 p.m. Thursday and the 300 low hurdles at 4:25. The quartet of Drew Fairchild, Adrian Woods, William Benford and Ken Walton will run the 4-by-200 relay prelim at 4:05.
Lee Olden will do the long jump final and D.D. Lattimore in the shot put at 11 a.m. Friday. Alex Johnson will compete in the triple jump at 1:30 p.m.
