LHS hosts Powerlifting Challenge Saturday
Most high school football players, if they're not involved in other sports, spent the winter months in the weight room.
In an effort to help beat the drudgery of lifting weights, the Blue Devil Powerlifting Challenge will be held Saturday at Lebanon High School.
Some 20 teams are expected for the event, which had been hosted by Riverdale in past years. Lebanon coach Bobby Brown said all of Wilson County's teams have been invited. Wilson Central and Watertown have confirmed they will come, he said Wednesday.
Other teams invited include Westmoreland, Franklin County, Warren County, White County, Beech and Greenwood [Ky.].
Competition begins at 10 a.m. Each lifter will participate in squats, bench press and power clean. They will be competiting for individual and team awards.
Admission is $2 and a concession stand will be available.
Mt. Juliet is also hosting a lift-a-thon at 6 p.m. tonight.
