LHS relay advances to state finals

MURFREESBORO — Lebanon's 4-by-100 relay team qualified for today's state finals during Thursday's preliminary at Middle Tennessee State University.
Drew Fairchild, Adrian Woods, William Benford and Ken Walton finished fifth in the prelims in 42.49 seconds. They will run for a state championship during today's 5 p.m. session.
Icelyn Elie and Matthew Maynard also had busy days Thursday. Elie finished seventh in the girls' high jump with a 5-2 and 13th in the triple jump with a 33-2 1/4. Maynard was 11th in the 300 low hurdles in 41.95 seconds but was disqualified in the 110 high hurdles for a hurdle violation.
The State Meet will wrap up today. In addition to the relay, Lebanon's Lee Olden will compete in the long jump and D.D. Lattimore in the shot put at 11 a.m., and Alex Johnson in the triple jump at 1:30 p.m.
