Man gets shot in local motel

A man shot in his north Lebanon motel room did not call police for nearly four hours before he was finally found early Wednesday evening.

Tony Brewington, 49, who resides at the Plaza 231 Inn, was taken to University Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries after someone outside his hotel room finally called police around 6 p.m.

Brewington told police two black men forced their way into his motel room around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

"A scuffle ensured and he ended up getting shot," Lebanon Police Chief Scott Bowen said.

Police have no suspects in mind, and Bowen said the men took Brewington's prescription painkillers before leaving him in the room.
But for reasons police don't know, Brewington never called police – a neighbor called police believing there had been a shooting.

"According to the victim he got shot about 2 p.m. but he didn't call the police for some unknown reason," Bowen said. "But apparently … it was a robbery."

Bowen said the department has yet to discern whether Brewington was specifically targeted.

"There's a lot of answers we have yet to find out, such as how did they know he had pain medication," Bowen said.
