Wilson County's Governor’s Volunteer Stars were recognized Monday night at the Wilson County Commission meeting, receiving accolades and applause for their accomplishments. The awards are designed to recognize the top volunteers in each county of the Volunteer State.

A bone marrow screening Saturday at the Journey Church in Lebanon featured a large turnout. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see if anyone screened is a match for Sadie Davis.

The Lebanon City Council is expected to again take up the issue of fireworks sales inside the city limits Tuesday. The council placed the issue on its agenda before its last meeting two weeks ago, but delayed it to refine languaged in the proposed ordinance.

Every available space at Carroll-Oakland Elementary is being used, even the bathrooms in the school's gym. This bathroom is now being used to store the band's instruments. The other gym bathroom is being used as an office with a teacher's desk overlooking a scenic toilet.
Carroll Oakland Elementary is a school with succeeding students, enthusiastic teachers and so little space classes are taught in every nook and cranny.

The Lebanon Church of God was devastated by a fire in November, but a 'musical extravaganza' is planned for Saturday to raise funds to rebuild the church.
Lebanon Church of God on Manier Street caught fire in November, and when the smoke cleared, all that remained were the outside walls of the structure and the faith of its congregation.

Lebanon High School JROTC member Rachel Pope has been instrumental in getting hundreds of Christmas cards ready to send to active duty service members and local veterans to thank them for their service to the nation.
For soldiers serving in far-away places and wounded warriors closer to home, being remembered at Christmas is just the thing to make their spirits bright.
